SAGEWOOD

This piece was a commission from a close friend and mentor who was looking for something to fit in his new cafe, a funky space of fresh ideas, delicious food, green juices and good coffee.

The cafe brand green needed to be in the piece, so I started looking at how we could tell a story with this artwork, and as each layer was applied, the story became clearer. Greens and blues represent clean living, fresh air and home grown produce. The dark shades showcasing the soil of earth that supports us all and the coffee grinds so widely prized by many. And the gold leaf something to again add character to the piece, catching the light in different ways, depending on the time of day and where you sit, always keeping the piece alive and moving, ever evolving, sort of how the cafe will always be changing and evolving, from season to season.
