Meet the Artist

What art means to me
Art cannot be explained adequately in words. Its influence on people is so uniquely individual to every person. It opens up conversations with the non-speaking parts of our being… the parts of ourselves that existed before language and words and paper… the parts of ourselves that still connect our fragmented selves together today.
I love art, it’s much like life in that each person has a deeply personal and yet different experience of it. In the same way that you can raise children in the same house, and they will each have individual preferences and tastes, art can only be seen through the lens of the individual, and what I create with art often isn’t for me, it’s for you, or the purchaser, and the generations of people who will appreciate it in the future.
Art is in a sense, life. It’s something that talks to the deepest levels of our souls, to that part of us that deeply yearns to be acknowledged, but often goes an entire lifetime being unseen. It’s a blank canvas for us to project what we would like to see in the world.
And that’s why I love working with abstract styles, it talks to each person in a different way, and in a sense, as much as someone can own a piece of art, it’s never truly owned by any one person, as each person who gazes at it, in those moments both owns and is owned by the art.
And while each of my pieces are unique, and sometimes vary in style depending on client requests, I always try play with light, using both copper and gold leaf accents to add a sense of life and depth to each piece, that allows it to continuously change as the day progresses, and give the sense that it is living art, not a piece that languishes on a wall, but rather one that thrives, that celebrates and that adds joy to everyday experiences.
I have chosen to go with the medium abstract as it’s open to interpretation – it’s open to making that very personal connection between people, spaces, time and memory.
My art is an extension of myself: full of vibrancy and energy created with layers of textured Acrylic paint and gold leaf placement that evokes movement through its iridescence.
This is my visual reality. This is my pivoting, ever-changing, scintillating reality, and I hope it brings you as much joy in its contemplation as it brought me in its creation.
